i used to be shy. really shy. i've chalked that up to lots of things and overcome most of my shyness by using tricks. one of my tricks is to subconsciously try to figure out what person a stranger looks like. if they look someone i already know, then they're not as intimidating. plenty of people have dopplegangers. i'd never considered the possibility of handwriting dopplegangers until today. it used to be that everyone's handwriting looked the same, or at least more uniform at any extent. french handwriting looked the same. people that were raised in the twenties have frightningly similiar scrawlings.

i've been thinking about handwriting lately also because it's just something you don't see all the time anymore. i got a card from a friend the other day and it was literally the first time i'd ever seen her writing. three lines in and i'm thinking it's just terrible. and she writes "yes, i write like a fourth grader." timing perfection. one of the most anal retentive designers i've ever met writes as though severe arthritis has struck his entire hand. all architects i've met save one: immaculate handwriting. my parents sadly didnt' know my fascination so...oops on outing that santa secret.

in school i used to copy my teacher's handwriting for my class notes. i did it because i was bored and it was kind of fun to me at the time. i wonder how that changed my handwriting. and how they would have reacted had they ever have seen my notebook...

so getting back to today. i was looking at this site and i saw this
and it looks exactly like my old roommate's handwriting. the chances of it being her are slim, but man, i'm dying to ask. hilarious.
